e – prepronominal prefix

The last of the prepronominal prefix is the distant imperative – e –
di – after de – plural prepronominal prefix.


e – is used with imperative forms when the person spoken to is facing the speaker from a position some distance away.

ᎡᏍᏗᎪᏩᏔ / esdigowata / esdiígóo(h)waa(h)ta – ᎡᏍᏗᎪᏩᏔ is pronounced long a – s – d – short i (held and rising tone) g – long o (held and high tone) – aspiration – w – short a (held) – aspiration – t – short a. esdigowata means you (dual) see it (facing the speaker).

ᏙᏗᏍᏗᎪᏩᏔ / dodisdigowata / doodisdíigoo(h)wáa(h)ta – dodisdigowata is pronounced d – long o (held) – d – short i – s – d – short i (held, high tone) – g – long o (held) – aspiration – w – short a (held, high tone) – aspiration – t – short a. ᏙᏗᏍᏗᎪᏩᏔ means you (dual) see them (facing the speaker).

Prepronominal prefixes are also known as initial prefixes because of their position immediately preceding the pronoun or pronominal prefix. There is an order in which they appear relative to one another. Looking at the table below, remember prepronominal prefix within the same numbered box can not occur together in a verb….
