Reflexive Prefix is the last prefix that will occur before a verb stem. It always follows the pronoun prefix and precedes the verb stem.
– adad – before a vowel verb stem other than /a/
– ad – before an a vowel verb stem
– ada – before a consonant verb stem
The Reflexive prefix is only used on transitive verbs (remember a transitive verb requires an object to receive an action). It indicates that the subject performing the action is the same as the object being affected by the action.
adadoliga — pronounced short a – d – short a – d – long o – aspirated l – silent i – g – short a — adadolga means he recognizes himself.
adagiwahtiha — pronounced short a – d – short a – g – short i – w – silent a – aspiration – t – short i – h – short a — adagiwhtiha means he sees himself.
An important function is to indicate an unspecified object.
ganiyisgo — pronounced g – short a – glottal stop – n – short i – y – short i – s – g – long o — ganiyisgo means he catches it
agow(a)(h)tiha — pronounced short a – g – long o – w – aspiration – t – short i – h – short a — agowhtiha means he sees it. It also means he sees him. The translation would depend on the context.
